Aecern is based in Bath, and we work principally, but not exclusively, in the southwest. We work most frequently in green oak using traditional techniques, but many projects involve a mix of hard and soft woods and combinations of ancient and modern techniques.

Our frames are built at a farm in North Somerset. Green oak construction techniques mean that it may be possible to transport components to site prior to assembly, which can extend our range of operation.

We like, where possible, to get involved in a project at the earliest opportunity with the client and architect, if one is appointed. In that way we can bring Aecern's significant experience to the table at a point which could help avoid later remedial work to plans or even buildings. This is a really effective way of keeping costs down – but more than that, a huge part of our satisfaction comes from seeing a project through from initial sketches to the finished, working structure.
